Echo Soho opens at Artists House. We will be showing 'diffract//001' by Damaris Athene in the AWITA booth curated by Sigrid Kirk. Find us in Booth 4. More about the 'diffract//' series below.

Rooted in the myth of Echo and Narcissus, the AWITA booth explores reverberation, reflection, repetition, and collective memory through a cross-disciplinary lens.

'diffract//' combines kiln-formed glass and mirror glass to form glass paintings eminiscent of the surface of water. Your movements as a viewer combined with fluctuations in ambient light alter your perception of the work, making a 'true' reading impossible. These works give the illusion of depth through a complex web of reflections, an impenetrable boundary that slips out of reach like our digital screens. Kiln-formed glass shifts from one colour to another in a gradient and is moulded with the texture of wax interacting with water.
